Cancer Screening

Cancer screening is the testing of people who are not showing any symptoms, to find signs which could lead to cancer. Screening saves thousands of lives each year by detecting cancer in its early stages.

There is no way to test for every cancer, but in the UK there are three national screening programmes in place: for breast, bowel and cervical cancers.

The Government has announced that the NHS will roll out targeted lung screening across England. Currently, lung health checks are only available in some parts of England. They will be available everywhere by 2029.
